Viognier from south/south-east facing terraced hillside vineyards in the sublime appellation of Condrieu in the Northern Rhône Valley; matured on its lees and in oak vats and barrels for 9 months.
According to local legend, the vineyard of Condrieu dates from the time of the Romans who introduced the Viognier to the third century after J-C in the region.
Falling into disuse, Condrieu counted, a generation ago, barely 12. Since then, the vineyard has expanded significantly and has become more homogeneous after the removal of some plots.
Heir to the family and history of a magnificent terroir, Yves Cuilleron strives to highlight the typicality of this appellation.
The 2005 Condrieu Les Chaillets Vieilles Vignes is remarkable. Coming from hillside plots, this Condrieu is produced from the oldest and best-exposed vineyards of the estate. The harvest is done manually, with a slight over-maturity. In the cellar, the grapes are sorted and pressed.
